A Wrap on 2022 at Brisbane Smiles

It feels like 2022 was finally the return to a normal post-covid life. As a practice, Brisbane Smiles has again been able to focus on providing great dental care and outcomes with convenience and familiar faces.

Post-Covid, we have identified there are changing needs in Dental care. We have been listening to why you come to see us and listening to your feedback following your appointments. We are working towards making our Dentists, OHTs and Hygienists more accessible in times of need. Patients need trusted and honest Dental advice quickly and professionally. 

What’s Coming Up at Brisbane Smiles

We will soon open four new treatment rooms as we expand our Level One space. Our Dentists will have greater access to Dental facilities, and our patients will have more appointment availability. These updates will mean a larger reception team led by Michele and Madonna, with private rooms for a quicker and more convenient experience following your appointment.

There are now two additional parking spaces for use during your appointments. They are opposite our existing car parks.

Recent technology upgrades in Practice software will help safeguard your privacy through 2-factor authentication in health communications and a greater user experience throughout your appointment process. All communications will come from ‘Brisbane Smiles’ and ‘Zavy’ software.

Communication Software Updates

Please keep an eye out for any texts from Brisbane Smiles from our new software ‘Zavy’. You will receive an SMS with an appointment confirmation link prior to your appointment, it is safe and simple to click on. If you have any concerns, you can call our reception team on 3870 3333 and we can confirm that the message was sent from us and is safe to view.

To save you time, before appointments you may receive a text message or email request to update personal and medical information. It’s online, secure, saves paper and allows you to spend more valuable time with the Dentist rather than filling out paper forms!  All requests for updates to your personal information will require you to receive and enter a 6-digit code from your mobile phone. This 2-factor authentication process ensures your personal details are private and secure.

Growing Our Team

As we have progressed throughout the year, our patients have had greater access to quality Dentists, Oral Health Therapists and Hygienists, Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists. Our Communication, Reception and Dental Assistant teams have also provided exceptional support to our patients. 

Brisbane Smiles ProvidersDr Nancy (Dentist) and Elsa (Dental Hygienist) will return from leave in the second quarter of 2023 after both having little ones. Dr Tara (Dentist) and Patricia (Oral Health Therapist) will have a break during 2023 as each of them have their first babies!

Helping the Community

Throughout 2022, Brisbane Smiles was involved with many charitable and community initiatives, some of these were:

• Ironside State School Spring Fete 
• Orange Sky Australia 
• Baby Give Back 
• UQFC

Access to education and Dental Care for our children is important to Brisbane Smiles. Our team has continued to sponsor the ‘Smith Family’ and frequently visits our local Kindergartens to educate little ones about the importance of Dental Health.

In 2023, we have decided to be more concise and consistent with our gifting contributions. For each new patient, we will donate proceeds from their appointment to one of three charities, allowing each patient to choose which charity they would like to donate to.

Our team loves our patients and we appreciate every family and friend that you refer to us. Not only are we committed to giving them a great experience when they come in, but you could also be in the running for our Refer a Friend Draw! 

Professional Development

Team Education

Our team has completed continued professional development in many areas this year. Team development included many team sessions to plan new patient flows for improved convenience and comfort.

Other Professional Development highlights were:

• Dr Paul McKay visited Nashville for a Dental Implant conference.
• Oral Health Therapist Patricia attended the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) Euro Perio 10 Copenhagen.
• Dental Technicians Elissa and Rebecca attended the Micro Layering workshop to enhance their hand-crafting skills in the laboratory. 

Our Plans for an Even Bigger 2023

We have been listening to your feedback and why you love to visit us. Our focus for 2023 is to prioritise your comfort and experience, availability of appointments and convenience. We will ensure that we provide you with exceptional Dental care with reliable, honest and trustworthy advice.
